Summary

"Believe You Me!" by Nina Wilcox Putnam is a funny story about a dancer named Mary Gilligan during World War I. Mary is really good at acrobatics but has to figure out her life when her boyfriend, who is also her dance partner, breaks up with her because of a funny accident with an alligator. This makes Mary think about what she wants to do, and she decides to join a women’s group that drives cars to help with the war. While she’s doing this, Mary also deals with confusing feelings about love and trying to figure out who she is, all while working with her friends in the theater. Right from the start, the book is both funny and a little sad, making readers laugh and feel for Mary as she tries to find her way during a difficult time.
