The mating impulse

"The Mating Impulse" by Edwin Balmer is the story of Roberta Leigh, an American woman who throws herself into the suffragist movement in Britain, getting into trouble as she fights for women's rights. As her protests become more daring, Andy Farnham, an American man, sets out to find her after hearing about her escapades. He eventually finds her after a destructive protest in Stoketon, and together they decide to escape to America. As they plan their escape, they must deal with the feelings that grow between them; Roberta struggles with what she has done, and they must navigate their relationship and the dramatic consequences of intense activism during a time of great upheaval.
