"The Associate Hermits" by Frank R. Stockton is a story from the late 1800s about the Archibald family and their unconventional idea for a wedding trip. The parents, Mr. Hector Archibald and his wife, decide they will take the wedding trip alone, since their daughter and new son-in-law want to stay home; this sets the stage for funny situations and says something about society's rules and what people really want. From the start, Mr. and Mrs. Archibald are happy about the wedding, but they don't agree about whether or not they should take a trip. Their daughter, Kate, and her husband want to stay home, so the Archibalds plan to go to a camp in the woods with their funny friend Margery, who becomes their companion, which guarantees comedy and maybe even some adventure.
