"Love Among the Lions: A Matrimonial Experience" by F. Anstey is a funny story from the 1800s about Theodore Blenkinsop, a single man, who falls hard for Lurana de Castro, a professor’s stepdaughter. To win her over, he tries different things, like taking speech lessons, and figures out she wants an exciting life. Lurana comes up with a crazy idea to get married in a lion's cage, showing she wants to be different, and Theodore, because he loves her, goes along with the wild plan, which leads to lots of funny situations and makes fun of what society thought was normal back then.
