Summary

"Under a Charm: A Novel. Vol. II" by E. Werner, is a late 19th-century novel that pulls us into the world of Waldemar Nordeck as he comes back to his family's Wilicza estate, finding himself face-to-face with old family drama and the weight of the past. In the heart of Poland, Waldemar must navigate his feelings for his cousin Wanda, who is pledged to his brother Leo, all while wrestling with the expectations of their social class. The story starts with Waldemar's arrival at a family gathering, immediately setting a tone of unease as cold interactions reveal a cryptic history, especially with Wanda. His reserved nature clashes with the warm atmosphere encouraged by his mother, the Princess, suggesting hidden depths to Waldemar's character. Waldemar's solitary presence hints at deeper conflicts as he grapples with personal history and ambiguous relationships within the family, setting the scene for emotional clashes that promise to escalate with each chapter.
