Summary

"Under the Desert Stars" by Frank Koester is a story of love and control set in the early 1900s. The novel follows Sana, a young woman, and the challenges she faces as she navigates complicated relationships and inner struggles. Caught between her fiancé, François de Rochelle, who uses hypnotism to control her, and a new acquaintance, Carl Lohman, who senses her distress, Sana is pulled in different directions. The narrative takes place in both New York City and the deserts of the Sahara, mixing romance with suspense and adventure. As Sana finds herself contemplating her life's trajectory from the Queensborough Bridge, she unknowingly enters a world where her decisions, heavily influenced by hypnotic manipulation, could prove to be fatal.
