Summary

"The Devil's Admiral" by Frederick Ferdinand Moore is a historical adventure novel that takes place on the steamer "Kut Sang", where James Augustus Trenholm finds himself amidst a web of mystery and danger alongside characters such as the questionable Rev. Luther Meeker and the crafty beggar, Petrak. Set in the Pacific, the story quickly turns perilous after a murder on board the ship. Captain Riggs begins an investigation of the crew, especially focusing on Petrak and Buckrow, which creates high tensions and leaves everyone suspicious of each other while traveling on the tumultuous seas.

About the Author

Frederick Ferdinand Moore was an early 20th century American novelist, short story writer, editor, publisher, soldier and war correspondent. His first novel The Devil's Admiral was inspired by his extensive travels as a sailor, a soldier serving in the US Army during the Philippine–American War, and later as a correspondent covering the Russo-Japanese War.
