Summary

"The Idol of the Blind" by Tom Gallon is a late 19th-century story about love and loss. After David Willis's wife dies with a heart full of sadness, he finds himself alone with their baby son, Comethup. David is lost in sadness, but he learns to be a father. The story shows how close David and Comethup become as Comethup grows up. Comethup’s life takes an interesting turn when he meets a girl named Linda, adding new excitement to his childhood, which is lived in the shadow of his mother’s story and with his father's love.

About the Author

Thomas Henry Gallon was a British playwright and novelist. He was the brother of author and publicist Nellie Tom-Gallon, who founded the Tom-Gallon Trust Award for beginning writers in memory of her brother.
