Summary

"Sir Dominick Ferrand" by Henry James is a late 19th-century story centered on Peter Baron, an up-and-coming writer faced with a tempting and troublesome situation. Baron, just on the verge of literary success, finds a collection of mysterious letters connected to the long-gone Sir Dominick Ferrand. The discovery throws Baron into a moral quandary because revealing these documents could have major consequences. At the same time, Baron's interactions with Mrs. Ryves, a fellow lodger, hint at a deeper relationship. As Baron balances his literary dreams with the ethical challenges of his secret, his and Mrs. Ryves' bond increases by putting their personal and professional lives at odds.
