Summary

"The Primrose Ring" by Ruth Sawyer is a heartwarming story that takes place in Saint Margaret's, a children's hospital, concentrating on Margaret MacLean, a compassionate nurse. It’s a journey into themes of optimism, benevolence, and how love and imagination can change lives, as Margaret works to bring happiness and a sense of normalcy to sick children. At the beginning of the story, the lively feeling of spring is set against the serious Trustee Day at the hospital. Margaret is shown as a bright and positive person who believes in the magic of life, and she wants to share that with the kids. As she talks to the flower seller, it is obvious that she wants to help the children's spirits, not just give them medical care. The first chapters look back at Margaret's challenging past and the need for kindness in a system that can be uncaring. She hopes to build a brighter world for the children at Saint Margaret's through her playful ways, leading to a moving study of humanity and the friendships that grow in tough times.
