Summary

"True Tilda" by Arthur Quiller-Couch is a story set in a hospital where Tilda, a young circus performer, is mending from a horse accident. Known for her lively spirit, she lightens the mood for those around her, including a sick woman she befriends in the next bed. When Tilda learns about the woman's wish to see a boy named Arthur Miles, she promises to help, sparking a quest driven as much by her yearning for adventure beyond the hospital walls as by her kind heart. The book follows Tilda as she rises above her challenges, showing bravery and cleverness while navigating the hospital environment and taking the first steps toward what could be a journey of freedom and belonging.
