"The Mucker" by Edgar Rice Burroughs is an adventure story set in the early 1900s about Billy Byrne, a tough young man raised in the violent streets of Chicago. Billy's early life is filled with street brawls, petty theft, and dreams of becoming a boxer while navigating a complicated relationship with a local police officer. After being wrongly accused of robbery, Billy is forced to escape Chicago, which lands him on a ship headed for dangerous and unknown lands that will eventually lead to his transformation as he faces a string of action filled challenges and fights for survival.
