Summary

"General Anthony Wayne's Expedition into the Indian Country," by the staff of the Public Library of Fort Wayne and Allen County, recounts General Anthony Wayne’s leadership during the conflicts between the United States and Native American tribes following the Revolutionary War. It highlights Wayne's mission to secure the Northwest Territory for the United States through strategic military campaigns. The book outlines Wayne's journey from assembling his troops in Pittsburgh to key battles, notably the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794, where he defeated Native American forces. It also describes his interactions with Native American leaders like Little Turtle and his efforts to build fortifications such as Fort Recovery and Fort Defiance. The book concludes with the establishment of Fort Wayne, marking a major triumph for American forces and solidifying their command over the region.
