Summary

"Simple psiman" by F. L. (Floyd L.) Wallace is a mid-20th-century science fiction novella about Egan Rains, a telepathic astronomer, who undertakes a perilous journey through a futuristic India populated with mentalists and telepaths, where a cosmic threat looms. Rains must prevent Earth's destruction by finding a powerful teleport capable of altering the course of a rogue comet, and along the way, he teams up with Gowru Chandit, a skilled dyeman, to overcome human and cosmic obstacles, as his scientific approach clashes with the mystical elements of his surroundings, creating a blend of action and philosophical questions about power, belief, and humanity's role in the universe.
