Summary

"Mindsnake" by Jim Harmon is a science fiction tale of identity and loyalty set in a future where teleportation warps human minds. Our protagonist, Hammen, a Witch bonded to his Familiar, Lad, battles the mysterious Mindsnake, an entity that steals identities during space transit. Forced to partner with a human Companion named Isodel, Hammen clashes with Gordus, who doubts the bond between Witch and Familiar and threatens Isodel's mind. In a final showdown, Hammen teams up to destroy the Mindsnake, but faces a tough choice between his love for Isodel and his commitment to Lad.

James Judson Harmon, better known as Jim Harmon, was an American short story author and popular culture historian who wrote extensively about the Golden Age of Radio. He sometimes used the pseudonym Judson Grey, and occasionally he was labeled Mr. Nostalgia.
