"Mindsnake" by Jim Harmon is a science fiction tale of identity and loyalty set in a future where teleportation warps human minds. Forced to partner with a human Companion named Isodel, Hammen clashes with Gordus, who doubts the bond between Witch and Familiar and threatens Isodel's mind. In a final showdown, Hammen teams up to destroy the Mindsnake, but faces a tough choice between his love for Isodel and his commitment to Lad.
