Summary

"The Wallypug of Why" by G. E. Farrow is a fantasy story for young readers, telling of a girl named Girlie, who starts on a curious journey to understand strange beings and ideas, like the puzzling "Goo," all with the help of her talking doll, Dumpsey Deazil, because she is lonely. In this quest, she travels through funny landscapes filled with odd and amusing characters, meets the Wallypug, joins silly and thought-provoking talks in the land of Why. At the start, she is feeling sad while waiting for her brothers, leading to her doll offering a trip to the land of Why. On their journey, Girlie meets many comical characters, like the King’s Minstrel and a talking Fish; she has dialogues full of funny misunderstandings about manners, playful circumstances that spark curiosity, and asking young readers to think about whimsical concepts, and sets and lighthearted tone for her quest to find who is the Goo.
