"Captain Fracasse" by Théophile Gautier is a story that takes place in the time of King Louis XIII about the Baron de Sigognac who lives alone and poor in his old family castle. His life is sad and lonely until a group of traveling actors ask to stay at his castle during a storm. This event changes everything for the baron, pulling him into their exciting world. He discovers new hope and the chance for love, leading him away from his gloomy life and into an adventure far beyond the walls of his decaying home.
