Summary

"Midnight Webs" by George Manville Fenn is a story set in colonial India. It follows Isaac Smith, who works as a commissionaire, as he shares his time in a military camp. The book looks at friendship, love, and how different soldiers and their families get along. Smith's storytelling feels real and honest as talks about his life and the people around him, like Captain Dyer, Lieutenant Leigh, and Miss Ross. The novel shows the hard parts of being in the military, the close bonds between soldiers, and the romances that blossom even when things are tough. There's a growing sense of trouble as the story hints at problems within the regiment and the danger from the local people.
