Summary

"Nightmare Tower" by Sam Merwin is a science fiction story where Lynne Fenlay, a young telepath on Mars, wrestles with personal problems and her growing powers in the 1950s. Lynne has headaches that make things hard with her fiancé, Ray Cornell, and their coworker, Janet Downes, and she starts picking up on hidden feelings between them. She then learns that she has a special telepathic gift, which could change her life; she turns away from her old life. As she explores this new path and the mysteries of Mars, a beautiful but decaying planet, Lynne grapples with tough questions about who she is, who she can trust, and what it means to have incredible, unusual abilities.
