Summary

"Ann Veronica: A Modern Love Story" by H. G. Wells is a tale about a young woman named Ann Veronica Stanley, determined to break free of the limitations placed on her during the late 1800s. She faces opposition from her father and society as she tries to pursue her education and personal ambitions, rather than simply conforming to expectations of marriage and domestic life. Ann Veronica's story begins when she returns from London, ready to defy her father's rules after he forbids her from going to a dance. Her dissatisfaction with the limited roles available to women fuels her desire for independence, leading to conflicts with her family and the disapproval of those around her as she navigates the challenges of defining herself. Facing romantic entanglements and familial strife, she bravely seeks to make choices that reflect her own desires.
