Summary

** "The Bed-Book of Happiness" by Harold Begbie is a compilation from the early 1900s designed to bring joy to those confined to bed. It provides a friendly voice for the sick, a distraction for the restless, and a treat for the weary, using varied cheerful writings to foster light-heartedness. Beginning with the idea of a “Bed-Book” meant to inspire, the book looks at how to keep a good mood, particularly when facing the challenges of illness, and includes personal stories from taking care of a sick child. Begbie wanted to solve the problem of finding reading that brings joy and avoids sadness. He puts together a collection meant to comfort, so readers can discover joy, peace, quiet, and a sense of belonging when faced with difficult periods. **
