Summary

"The Collected Works in Verse and Prose of William Butler Yeats, Vol. 2 (of 8)" is a vibrant assembly of early 1900s poetry and drama. It showcases Yeats's deep admiration for Irish lore and considers the connection of creativity, nationality, and the world around us. The play "The King's Threshold" kicks things off by introducing Seanchan, a well-known poet who's been kicked out of the king's dining hall. King Guaire tries to get Seanchan to eat again to save face, but their back-and-forth brings up tough questions about what art is worth, what society values, and what happens when powerful leaders clash with artists who stand tall and stick to what they believe.
