Summary

"Poems" by W. B. Yeats is a collection of poetry from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, which delves into love, self-discovery, and the blending of ancient myths with the real world, all while exploring Irish roots and traditions. The verse offers a collection of lyrical poems expressing personal feelings alongside the spirit of a nation through Yeats' distinct tone. The collection starts with Yeats reflecting on changes he's made to his plays such as "The Countess Cathleen," noting that theatrical needs shaped his creative process, as well as addressing deeper struggles, he shows his passion for bringing Irish tales and spiritual beliefs to life through his work, setting the stage for the fusion of the ordinary with the fantastic throughout the anthology.
