Summary

"To Remember Charlie By" by Roger D. Aycock is a science fiction story about a boy in a wheelchair named Joey, heartbroken after his one-eyed dog, Charlie, dies. Living in a trailer court and longing for his lost friend, Joey starts saying he can move stars in the night sky. Doc Shull, his neighbor, thinks it's just Joey's imagination helping him deal with his sadness and grief. But things get stranger when the stars really do seem to move around. The story looks at ideas of hope, believing in something, and the special connection between a boy and his dog. In the end, filled with love and memories, Joey is able to rise out of his wheelchair, showing how believing in things can be a strong force for transformation.
