Summary

"Henry Northcote" by J. C. Snaith is a tale set in a wintry London, focusing on Henry Northcote, a barrister teetering on the edge of ruin, and the story follows his battle against poverty as he struggles with his aspirations. The book opens with Northcote in his chilly office during a bitter December, dealing with his bleak situation. Six years trying cases proved fruitless, and now he might find himself on the streets. But when a strange man, a Mr. Iggs, shows up, he hints at Northcote’s hidden abilities. This meeting lights a fire in Northcote, forcing him to consider his past actions, his dreams, and the chance for a better future, even with the odds stacked against him.
