Christmas Light

"Christmas Light" by Ethel Calvert Phillips is a story set long ago, during the first Christmas, about Naomi, a girl living in Bethlehem. The book tells how important believing in something can be, especially for families, by charting Naomi's path from being blind to seeing, which represents finding faith during Christmastime. At first, we meet Naomi enjoying her simple life with her family, especially her brother Ezra, in their garden, even though she wishes she could do more important things. Later on, the story gets sad when Naomi loses her sight, turning her world upside down. But even though things look bad, the book suggests that the coming of the Messiah will play a big part in helping Naomi heal and believe.
