Summary

"Christmas Stories" by Mary Jane Holmes is a collection of holiday tales from the 1800s that speaks of compassion and second chances. It spins stories of family, generosity, and finding your way back to good, all set around Christmas. We meet Alice Warren, a pretty young woman with a blind father, getting ready for her fancy entrance into society, and Adelaide Huntington, who wants more than what she has in life. The story kicks off on Christmas Eve at the Warrens' beautiful home, but soon we see how different Alice's and Adelaide's lives are. With her father's love shining through, even with his blindness, Alice's story tugs at your heart, while Adelaide's hopes show us the challenges of those trying to climb the social ladder. It's a touching start to a series of holiday stories, filled with feeling and set against the backdrop of Christmas cheer.
