Summary

"Imaginary Interviews" by William Dean Howells is a series of humorous make-believe talks that tackle topics like books, behaviors, and what it means to be human. The story kicks off by talking about this special "Easy Chair," which is like a place where big ideas get discussed and shared. It starts off playfully, chatting about the chair's history and how important it is to this magazine called "Harper's." The characters in the story talk about old leaders and the troubles of those who come after them; they also wonder about things like buying and selling Christmas, and what people expect from each other. This fun talk makes you excited for the rest of the story, which promises even more thoughts on what people value and what it means to be alive.
