Summary

"Con-Fen" by James R. Adams is a comical science fiction story from the 1950s about two Martians named Koosh and Thuko who visit Earth for a vacation in Chicago. The story uses the Martians' experiences to make fun of human life as they enjoy Earth things, which is very different to Mars. Koosh and Thuko enjoy the food and strange air of Earth. Their invisibility depends on whether humans believe in them or not. They eat a lot of food at a supermarket, and later, they accidentally get seen by humans at a hotel. While trying to get away, they are hit by a truck and die. Humans are left confused about the creatures they saw. The story is funny and looks at belief, seeing, and how weird life can be through the short trip of the two Martian tourists.
