Summary

"The Green Millennium" by Fritz Leiber is a science fiction story set in a gloomy future where robots are taking over and people feel lost. The main character, Phil Gish, is a shy man whose boring life suddenly gets interesting when a strange green cat named Lucky shows up. Lucky brings Phil a sense of happiness and adventure, completely changing how he sees the world. At the start, Phil feels hopeless and scared as he deals with his town's problems, but then he wakes up one day feeling good, which gets better when the cheerful cat arrives. As Phil gets used to enjoying life, he meets weird people and faces strange situations that make him wonder if Lucky is even real, and what's up with society itself. Phil's surprising journey into happiness is just the beginning of the wild adventures that follow as he figures out how to truly live.
