"Through Arctic Lapland" by Charles John Cutcliffe Wright Hyne is a late 19th-century travel story where the author and his friend Mr. Cecil Hayter embark on a journey through the uncharted Arctic Lapland. Setting sail from London's Katherine Dock on the "Windward", with supplies for an Arctic expedition, they are filled with youthful excitement and big plans to explore the region and meet the native Lapp people. Their initial enthusiasm is obvious as they hastily gather supplies and prepare for their grand adventure. However, upon reaching Vardö at the beginning of their trip, they quickly realize that the realities of Arctic travel may force to change those adventurous plans.
