Summary

"The Recipe for Diamonds" by C. J. Cutcliffe Hyne sets the scene in the late 1800s, intertwining adventure and exploration with the tantalizing pursuit of a legendary recipe for making diamonds. The narrative introduces Slidey Methuen, an English hunter reflecting on his fortunes in a Norse wilderness. He meets an old acquaintance, Michael Cospatric, and together they embark on a quest sparked by chance encounter. Stranded after a successful hunt, Methuen and his companion Ulus find shelter in an abandoned hut, where the sudden appearance of Cospatric shifts the narrative dramatically. As the former acquaintances reconnect and share stories, they soon decide to embark on a quest that promises more than just adventure, hinting at elements of both betrayal and relentless pursuit in the vast and dangerous unknown.
