Summary

"A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Part 2" by Mark Twain is a humorous and thought-provoking tale of an American engineer who suddenly finds himself in King Arthur's England. After proving his supposed magic skills with a well-timed eclipse trick, Hank Morgan, also known as "the Yankee", steps into a leadership role, challenging the old ways of Camelot. As "the Yankee" becomes more and more powerful, he deals with Merlin by imprisoning him, and then brings modern ideas to the sixth century, such as new schools, new industry and even a patent office. Through these inventions, he aims to shake up the social structure of the time, but quickly learns how hard it is to change old beliefs, especially those of the Church and social classes. With wit and charm, Twain questions the backward ways of medieval times while considering the cost of progress.
