Summary

"Progress Report" by Mark Clifton and Alex Apostolides is a story set in a time of Cold War tensions, where the drive for scientific advancement clashes with political agendas. Follow Colonel Jennings and his team as they gear up for a high-stakes spacecraft test, shadowed by Senator O'Noonan, whose self-interest and lack of understanding create friction. Suspense mounts when the launched spacecraft suddenly goes silent, leaving everyone in the dark about what went wrong. The story culminates in the revelation of sabotage, marked by the chilling message "Not yet," showing how hidden influences can dictate if the pursuit of progress is ready for the next step.
