Summary

"Requiem" by Edmond Hamilton is a science fiction story of heartache and remembrance taking place as planet Earth nears its end. In the far future, Captain Kellon and a crew of broadcasters travel to a dying Earth that is about to be swallowed up by its sun. As the world and its artifacts are revealed after a great thaw, Kellon is saddened by the shallow, empty broadcasts and nostalgic feelings of his crew-mates as they document the pending destruction, but he ends up captivated by the discovery of a long-forgotten home, belonging to a couple named Ross and Jennie. With the planet's doom impending, Kellon steps away from the insincere displays of emotions and begins his own mournful goodbye, finding peace in accepting the inevitable changes around him.
