Summary

"Market Harborough, and Inside the Bar" by G. J. (George John) Whyte-Melville is a story about an Englishman named John Standish Sawyer, who decides to chase a more thrilling life by diving back into fox hunting. He gets ready to move to Market Harborough, dreaming of hunts in the famous Shires area. Before he even gets there the book looks back at Sawyer's life, especially his funny mishaps like getting kicked out of college for a silly prank involving a bull. Sawyer's character is very relatable; he wants a fresh start. The author describes the English hunting world vividly, also setting the stage, clearly showing his eagerness to buy a new horse and make the most of his hunting adventures in the new location.
