The Life of a Foxhound

"The Life of a Foxhound" by John Mills is a story told from the perspective of a foxhound named Ringwood, who recounts his life experiences within the world of hunting. Beginning with a fortunate start at a farmer's home, where he receives care unlike his less fortunate siblings, Ringwood's early life offers a unique perspective on animal husbandry. The narrative transitions to life in the kennels, where Ringwood meets the seasoned hound Trimbush. Trimbush becomes a mentor, offering advice on navigating the complexities of hunts and the rules of the kennel environment. The book begins as a lively depiction of interactions between dogs and a portrayal of the social structure within the world of hunting.
