Summary

"Chronicles of England, Scotland and Ireland (2 of 6): England (02 of 12)" by Raphael Holinshed is a historical record from the late 1500s that follows William Rufus's time as king. After his father, William the Conqueror, died, William Rufus took the throne of England in 1087. He tried to get the nobles on his side by giving them gifts and promising better laws, but trouble started when his brother, Robert, felt cheated out of his rightful place as king. The story is full of tough battles for power and control in England after the Normans conquered it, and it's all about who is loyal, who is a traitor, and who is rebelling. This sets the scene for William's kingship, which includes fighting and chaos, promising conflicts among important characters.
