A Wounded Name

"A Wounded Name" by Captain Charles King is a story set in the hot deserts of Arizona during the late 1800s, where Lieutenant Gerald Blake, a U.S. Army officer, tries to escape a past love gone wrong. Blake's life becomes mixed up with Captain Nevins, a dishonest officer whose shady actions cause problems for everyone around him. The story introduces tough characters like Sancho, a ranch-keeper caught up in the mess, and Pedro, his sneaky sidekick. As a stagecoach arrives, bringing new faces and secrets, the book shows how soldiers, business folks, and local people interact in a world where trust is hard to find and the desert hides more than just sand.
