Summary

"The Honorable Peter Stirling and What People Thought of Him" by Paul Leicester Ford is a story set in the late 1800s, which follows Peter Stirling as he tries to find his place in the world and find love. The story kicks off with Mr. Pierce thinking that Peter isn't romantic because of how he grew up. Peter is shown to be a hard worker and someone who thinks a lot, especially when the other characters talk about love on a fancy boat; he tends to watch instead of jumping into conversations. Over time, Peter wrestles with what society expects from him and how he really feels about love, mostly because of his feelings for Miss Pierce, changing him in significant ways.
