"To Invade New York...." by Irwin Lewis is set in the early 1960s and tells the story of a wild scheme to throw New York City into complete disarray by messing with its subways and traffic. Professor Horace Howard Clarke's ordinary life turns upside down when Mr. Rumplestein-O’Grady, a nervous man, warns him about a plot to destroy the city, and the professor initially dismisses him. However as crazy things begin to happen, like all the traffic lights turning green, the professor realizes that he has to get to the bottom of the warning. The tale explores the themes of city chaos, nonsensical regulations, and the scary idea of the world spiraling out of control, leaving you questioning what is real and what is not.
