Summary

"The King's Esquires; or, The Jewel of France" by George Manville Fenn, is a historical story that takes place in the 1500s where a young man becomes caught up in the French court. King Francis I is trying to recover a stolen Jewel from England. Denis, an adventurous youth, meets Master Leoni and then he and his friends are sent on a mission to England by the King to recover the Jewel, where they must be brave and loyal to have success in their quest.

About the Author

George Manville Fenn was a prolific English novelist, journalist, editor and educationalist. Many of his novels were written with young adults in mind. His final book was his biography of a fellow writer for juveniles, George Alfred Henty.
