Summary

"A Nest of Linnets" by Frank Frankfort Moore is a tale set in the 1800's that centers on the Linley family, especially Elizabeth "Betsy" Linley, a talented singer grappling with her identity as an artist. In the beginning, Betsy's father, Mr. Linley, makes sure she knows the importance of her musical talent, but Betsy is struggling with performing in public. She would prefer not to, and wants to simply live a normal life. She is considering marrying a man who would help her escape her singing career. Betsy is happy when her brother Tom returns home after studying music in Italy, but soon sees that his love for music is stronger even than his love for his own family. The story becomes a drama as Betsy is torn between her talent and her personal dreams.
