Summary

"The Disowned — Volume 03" by Baron Edward Bulwer Lytton is a story of aspiration and consequence that likely takes place during the 1800s, weaving through the lives of people caught between social expectations and personal desires. The story centers on a man named Clarence Linden as he deals with the complexities of love lives and strives for approval in a world obsessed with appearance. Opening with the humorous chatter of Mr. and Mrs. Copperas—sharing rumors about Linden hinting towards scandal—the tale introduces us to Clarence's life and mixed relationships, exploring a lucky break after connecting to an elderly benefactor. Parallel to Clarence's story, we encounter Warner: a super motivated young artist, whose ambition consumes him so much that his health suffers in his pursuit of recognition.
