Summary

"A Sheaf" by John Galsworthy is a compilation of essays from the early 1900s covering social and ethical concerns. The book focuses on how society treats animals, the roles of women, and thoughts on what was normal during World War I. The collection starts with the author discussing animal rights and how human selfishness causes animal suffering. Through a conversation between two characters, Galsworthy examines irony and social responsibility, doubting how society doesn't care about animal cruelty. The words bring up moral questions about common habits, pushing for people to better grasp how these habits show what people and society are like. Galsworthy creates a thoughtful mood, motivating readers to rethink their ideas on kindness and treating living things ethically.
