Summary

"Pharmacographia" by Friedrich A. Flückiger and Daniel Hanbury is a scholarly exploration of plant-based medicines common in Great Britain and British India during the 1800s. The book systematically catalogs the primary botanical drugs, explaining their origins, applications, and traits. Grounded in both existing knowledge and original investigations, each entry offers insights into the botanical source of the drug, its chemical characteristics, historical importance, and medicinal use. The book avoids drifting into wider pharmacological or therapeutic concepts, it maintains a laser focus on the natural history and properties of each drug.
