Summary

"Laura Everingham; or, The Highlanders of Glen Ora" by James Grant is a historical story about the Mac Innon family in the Scottish Highlands. It tells of Allan Mac Innon and his foster-brother Callum Dhu, who face tough times because of unfair treatment by new landowners in Glen Ora. The story begins with Allan and Callum watching some English tourists try to climb Ben Ora, and they talk about how hard life is for the Highlanders, who are being forced off their land by Sir Horace Everingham, who wants to turn it into a deer forest. Allan and Callum are very loyal to each other, and they both dislike the unfair circumstances. The book highlights big questions about being loyal, finding love, and how old Highland ways clash with the new ways of life.
