Summary

"Philip Rollo; or, the Scottish Musketeers, Vol. 2 (of 2)" by James Grant is a 19th-century historical fiction where we find Philip Rollo, a brave Scottish musketeer, caught up in the middle of the Thirty Years' War, where themes of love, faithfulness, and battles come to life. At the start of the story, Rollo is living peacefully at Nyekiöbing castle, where the quiet life of the old queen and her royal court helps him reflect on his love for Ernestine, as well as reflect on the issues facing King Christian's army. Rollo uncovers some interesting information about his past and how he and Ernestine are closely related, which only makes his love and affection for her even stronger. This peace doesn't last for long, as war gets closer to the castle and they face being backstabbed by people, such as the evil spy Bandolo, who is a sign of trouble ahead, as each character must face challenging adventures and dangerous threats.
