Summary

"At the Gate of Samaria" by William John Locke is a story about a young woman named Clytie Davenant, who wants to be an artist. She has to deal with her strict family, who don't understand her dreams because they are very traditional and puritanical. Her dad and sister, Mrs. Blather, don't get why she wants to be an artist, which causes drama in their family. Clytie's journey shows her trying to be herself and chase her dreams, even though society and her family make it hard for her. The book shows how hard it can be when you want to be an individual but are stuck in a family that values old-fashioned ways.
