Summary

"The Heads of Apex" by George Henry Weiss is a science fiction story set in the early 1900s about soldiers finding a hidden world with advanced beings. Justus Miles and his buddy, Rusty, are soldiers looking for work when they meet a mysterious Solino, who sends them on a submarine journey to a secret spot. An accident traps them underground where "Heads," super advanced beings, control the land. These Heads use the blood of the locals to stay alive. Spiro, an outcast Head, starts a rebellion. Miles and Rusty get caught between their job as soldiers and the suffering of the people. They escape, but the moral struggles of this strange place stay with them. The book looks at themes of power, staying alive, and fights between different groups, also questioning right and wrong when it comes to power.
